When
we were asked to share our story, I never had a moment's
hesitation. Giving hope of having children to someone
who feels they might never have any is a blessing to
me. Actually putting our story and feelings down in
words was harder than I thought. I didn't want to leave
any special part of the journey out, and there are so
many facets to the story.
I don't think anyone who has decided that they want to
have a child ever thinks they will end up in a doctor's
office, discussing all the possible reasons why they
can't get pregnant. You feel isolated and, for us,
almost surreal that this whole thing is happening. We
married when I was 33 and began trying for a family at
that time. After two years of trying to have a baby
with no success, we decided to seek medical attention
for a possible answer. We had been through local
testing that told us nothing but left us wondering
everything.
Our path led us to Dr. Vasquez and
the Center for Reproductive Health by way of a family
member who had surgery in Nashville. While visiting
this family member we met Dr. Vasquez and were very
impressed with his concern and compassion for her.
After realizing he could possibly help us, we scheduled
an appointment to talk with him. The rest is history!!
He was so kind and spent precious time talking to my
husband and me about our own story. He outlined a plan
for us that could give us long awaited answers. Though
he made no promises, we felt very encouraged and
hopeful. After going through the necessary steps to
identify our specific problems, he suggested
IVF
as our greatest opportunity to have a child.
We began the treatments with many prayers from friends
and family and followed the instructions to detail!!
The level of professionalism and compassion by the
entire staff was unlike anything we had ever
experienced. They were available any time to answer our
questions, give words of encouragement, and ultimately
call us on the phone with the unbelievable news that you
long to hear yet think you never will.
"Congratulations!! You are pregnant!!"
I will never forget those precious
words, words we were blessed to hear on two different
occasions. First with our daughter Calista in 2003
through in vitro
fertilization
(IVF) and four years later thru a frozen embryo transfer
(FET) with our twin sons Cooper and Carson. Calista
absolutely loves her brothers and is such a great big
sister. They are such a joy, and we are so thankful to
God for our precious miracles!!! We are blessed to have
found Dr. Vasquez and will forever know in our hearts
that God sent us there. God Bless You All.
