Due to Kevin's history of leukemia, we had known since 1992 that we would need medical assistance to conceive. When Kevin and I decided to start our family, I asked my father who works at St. Thomas Hospital which infertility specialist he would recommend. My father then asked several of the staff for recommendations, and Dr. Vasquez's name came up a majority of the time as the most trusted and successful of any. Therefore, without hesitation we scheduled an appointment.

At our initial consultation we found Dr. Vasquez and his staff to be very professional and courteous. Dr. Vasquez ordered several tests, and after reviewing them, he recommended Intra-Uterine Inseminations (IUI) as our treatment option. When Kevin and I made the decision to proceed with the IUI, we knew it was going to be challenging. I planned to stay with my family in Hendersonville while Kevin would stay at home in Louisiana and continue to work. Kevin was extremely disappointed that he would not be able to stay with me through the process. At times it was painful and scary, but the separation and the feeling of being alone throughout was probably the worst part. However, it wasn't long before we considered the staff at the Center to be our extended family. Each and every one became a vital part of the process. They gave us continuous words of encouragement and kept us both going through even the hardest times. We always felt like we were part of a team that was looking at the same finish line.

The memories of the pain and anxiety that we had experienced faded on October 2, 2006, when Gillian Cadence Greer was born weighing 7lb 10oz. and measuring 20 1/2" long. We can now look into the eyes of our own "Miracle Baby." My husband said that he never thought he would hear anyone say "your little girl looks just like you." We are both excited more and more every day at the idea that God enabled us to add one more angel to the world. By just being with us, she has changed our lives for the better in too many ways to list!
