A
couple experienced the joys of pregnancies, only to
suffer 2 devastating losses at 7 & 8 weeks into the
pregnancies when miscarriages occurred. When yet
another unexplained miscarriage occurred months
later, the couple was grief stricken and unsure if
they are emotionally equipped to handle any further
pregnancy losses.
At CRH, even broken dreams can be fixed.
Approximately 50% of
women with recurrent pregnancy losses (RPL) remain
unexplained despite thorough investigations. A
number of possible etiologies and treatments have
been proposed to explain the occurrence of RPL.
For women who suffer unexplained recurrent
miscarriages, the
unexplained mystery of the situation is often
compounded by both misinformation and a sense of
helplessness.
Miscarriage is the most common complication of
pregnancy. Approximately 15-20% of all first
pregnancies miscarry.
In
women 35 and older, approximately 35%
of pregnancies are miscarried. In most first
trimester miscarriages, the vast majority of lost
fetuses have
chromosomal abnormalities.
